Okay, so I had a really happy day today, because its my birthday, and not only that, I received lots of greetings from many people I never even dreamed of knowing my birthday...or wishing me happy birthday...or do something extraordinary! This morning, I went to school like any other day...oh wait, yes in my long pants! Today is also the first day we are officially allowed to wear our long pants, so its sort of a birthday gift too, haha. (actually no, it was fruit of our hard work at obs, haha) For many years, I have never thought highly of the day: Birthday. Simply because there is usually not much to remember them for, and nothing to look forward to. (This is meant to be a personal opinion and I apologise if I spoilt it for you) I have always thought birthdays just as a special day, which you were born on, and nothing else, even though I have always wished otherwise. Today was a really special birthday for me. Our year head, Mr Law, came to look for me to wish me a happy birthday. He tried to sound as if something bad has happened and said, "I have something to tell you. Today, the 16th of January... (In a worrying tone) is your birthday!! Happy Birthday Jack! (Cheerfully)" I was expecting something like that(lol), so didnt get too shocked, but was really happy to receive a card from my year head. Then later in class, some more people came to me and wished me a happy birthday because they saw the card I was holding(haha). And between classes a group of my classmates cames to me too, and shouted to the whole class about today. O_O I was seriously...taken aback. They just started to sing me a birthday song and cheered. Maybe it wasnt so much to them, but it really really meant a whole lot to me. I have NEVER got these kind of response on my birthdays...if I wasnt so surprised then I might have actually...teared? I am EXTREMELY touched by what my classmates did. Thank you all so so much for it... After that, while the others were still having a talk in the hall, I was going for an early lunch as I was going to attend another briefing, when Jonlim came running up and asked who was Jack. I said it was me and thought he had something important about CCA to say to me...but he said happy birthday too!! (to me and Jim, and im not saying that this isnt important, lol) Even now, I still cannot think of how he actually remembered my birthday...when he has so many other people to remember...this was yet another ultra-pleasant surprise...and I thank you very very much too!! Shayne only remembered after this...but nevermind. So after that we went for the briefing/workshop for the research/mentorship project I am embarking on- HSSRP (Humanities and Social Sciences Research Programme). It was quite an interesting talk, and I learnt a few important things for our (Jim, Shayne and I) project. On the way home, I received some messages from my parents and Darren and WanJing (who is still in obs). Thank you all so much too!! What Im going to say next applies to all: I very sincerely thank and appreciate all of your well wishes, and although I cant find anything else to say but thank you, whatever you have done really means a lot to me, whether or not you are mentioned here. (Im sorry if I didnt...) My life would not be complete without friends and family like all of you... And heres wishing all whos birthday is on 16 Jan a really Happy Birthday!! (including you know who, haha)
