Today was international friendship day, so we celebrated it, by having the international students to perform and showcase their culture. Its almost the same every year (sorry, i said this), though there were indeed some new ideas like the Bollywood and the Vietnamese songs. The one I found quite bad was the Malaysia one, cos I remembered that it was about the same last year! Just some people talking...with elements of laughter. Ok, after that was SS lesson, then recess which JiaXuan and I had to go take physics test during. It was alright...not too difficult but not too easy too. Changed one of my answers at the last 30 seconds, how dangerous... Maths lesson was a bit bad, as usual, but we got back our statistics test today, so today's lesson was more 'exciting' than usual. Yay, I did well for statistics! But there were some who didnt, cos Mr Cheng, the trainee teacher from NIE didnt teach us the correct way to present our answers, and told us some ways that would be accepted which turned out to be unacceptable...so some people who were supposed to pass failed and some who were supposed to get full marks didnt. English was just videos on essay writing...Ms Quah seems to like YouTube a lot...
Anyway, right after school, went to buy some snacks and ate all the way from school to NTU, haha. The driver had a bad attitude, cos he sort of blamed Mrs Chee for his own mistake, and she had to apologise. I wonder how he works in the industry... Anyway, I slept and ate on the way to NTU for the HSSRP symposium, like a pig, lol. Reached there all excited, but had to sit there stoning for quite a while, luckily we had the HSSRP reports to read through.
The guest-of-honour was Ms Kit Chan, the person who sang the national day song 'Home' and acted in many plays... a very funny speaker, called herself a diva and said: "you damn well give me a big round of applause" lol. Her speach was really interesting and she even recited a poem by Robert Frost to us called 'Nothing Gold Can Stay' at the end, and she claimed that it was only her second time giving a speech, lol.
Presentation of HSSRP projects was next, and three groups presented. Two was about the facist period in Italy, one on the fall of liberism and the other on the arts during the facist regime. Sounds cheem to me too... An RI guy presented on another topic on something like the pronunciation of chinese words. Exact topic name: Phonological Variation and Change in Singapore Mandarin: A focus on the Removal of Aspiration from Voiceless Bilabial, lol. Very interesting topic, and it really enlightened me. I could tell that even the NUS high teacher was impressed by his work...
Break was nice, cos the food was quite tasty, and there were enough for everyone. (some ppl even packed some home to eat...) Was chatting with Francis and Aqid from the other group and talked about random funny stuff. Then went to listen to one of the concurrent sessions on Euthanasia and Bilingualism. Werent as good as those before, but we had some fun in the LT. Mr Low, philo teacher, was asking us to question them about their research, which was messy and a bit flawed.
Then took photographs...taken by a super funny photographer, whihc made us all laugh when the picture was taken. He showed us silly faces, tricked us...
Then went back to school, slept most of the way back lol.
Back at home, did maths and some RE, came up with some important points then just slacked, lol. Chat...and blog.
