RI Open House 2008
Sunday, May 18, 2008

So today I woke up in the morning at about 6.45am, still feeling worried as to what to wear today, but decided in the end to just wear school uniform. Nothing can go wrong in it right... Then reached school at about 7.40am, a bit too early, so walked around looking at stuff...until about 8, when I saw more people and began to set up the 01 booth. Quite some things, but i must admit that not a lot of people went through our booth, looking at our stuff...except maybe the marshmellow stand, where I was, giving out marshmellows to visitors and hopefully somehow they will visit our booth. Ways to achieve this:
1. Give them the chance to roast their own marshmellows and hope they get interested enough to visit our booth further
2. Tell them that we will roast the marshmellow for them, and suggest they take a walk around our booth, while we roast it, and it will be ready when they are done.
3. Tell the kids that if they want free flow of marshmellows, join RI and 01. (which is really fake, lol)

So, other than the fire, some kids who just cant get enough, and sadly rejecting any rafflesians from koping the marshmellows due to lack of stock, my job was rather simple. And I somehow did enjoy it and had some fun, so couldnt bear to leave in the end...

Then went to emulsify banners at third floor atrium with Falcon, Owl and KF, but we didnt actually emulsify them, cos right after we laid the cloth down, an uncle came up to us and said we could paint there. Then Kenneth called Mr Yuen while we we stoning there...but we got some chalk in the end and frew our designs first. Ours was quite random, lol. Then because we couldnt do anything more, we went for lunch at canteen where we faced some difficulties in communicating with the noodle stall uncle, cos Ming E was trying to say he wanted two bowls, but the uncle for some reason, couldnt understand him, so I helped and said the same thing, then he thought we both wanted two bowls and gave us four bowls...long story, anyway it was complicated and took some time, too much for me to write here lol. But the noodles were really quite cheap.

Then after eating I rushed for tuition, suddenly decided to go for it. And arrived there about halfway into the lesson, but the teacher was quite nice and didnt mind, and didnt charge me for that lesson, lol. Learnt some logarithm again, and some linear law, which we are going to learn next in school. Quite sad that we still need to draw graphs for the next topic...

Then later at night at my grandmother's house, my cousins were playing table tennis halfway when they suddenly asked me to 'repair' the net for them, cos they knew that I have just joined scouts, haha. The strings securing the net was really screwed, entangled, frayed, not doing their jobs and everything. So I went to spend some time on the net and used some simple hitches and thumb knots to tie the strings back and make the net taut. haha, felt a great sense of satisfaction suddenly, in joining scouts and learning everything so far, especially knots, which I have always felt isnt that useful in our daily life. Haha feel so happy after that incident, that I had actually managed to solve an authentic problem with skills I have learnt recently. =D

Lots of homework and projects to be done...when can I finally get the load off my back??
