Haha its just so nice to put that, even though its yesterday...anyway it was both the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, and the eve of Singapore's National Day! We still had to go to school for celebration, started at the same time but ended at 9.30am, haha so early. So we were in the hall watching a series of random performances. Erm...dont think theres a lot to talk about for the performances...i mean it isnt bad...its better than most other celebrations, but just not good enough yet haha. Then after we finished Mr Koh asked all of us to go to the LT2, turned out that we were supposed to take a 10-minute test on bonding for NIE. I did badly, but luckily it wont be counted for my GPA, lols, i havent mugged this topic yet. Chem CCT next Tuesday... Then was an extra chem lesson, lasted for slightly more than an hour, going through the test we just did haha.
Now out of school! Rushed to Plaza Singapura to meet Wan Jing and Darren. Sad that some ppl couldnt make it. Lols, we went to eat Japanese Ramen at Ajisen, haha, all time favourite for Jim and I... Then we went up to try and buy movie tickets, didnt buy before eating becos simply said, we didnt think of watching a movie, haha. So what we saw on the top floor was...crowds of ppl stuck at the box office. Lols, so we went to one of those GV express machines and bought tickets at J8. Lols, yea J8, so that means we were going back to J8 to watch a Money No Enough 2, lols. Actually wanted to watch The Dark Knight cos everyone was saying how good it is...but it was all full, haha. So we went back to J8 just in time to buy popcorn and enter, haha.
The movie started really funny, lols. I was laughing throughout the start of the movie cos the start was just showing all the 'ERP bots' transforming into ERP gantries everywhere, lols, like on all the roads, HDB lifts and MRT doors. (lols, apparently similar to the Mr Brown one). There was even talk about ERP gantries for aeroplanes and shipping passing through Singapore, haha. And 'ERP-take' and 'ERP-give' lols, dam funny, guess wat it is yourself or go watch it! haha. Oh yes their model of Singapore's CBD was really nice too, haha. The movie just talks about how three brothers were initially rich (to different extent) and then all became poor together. But when they were poor, they were also 'rich' in different ways. So watch the movie to find out! Funny scenes are scattered throughout the story, so dont worry about the humour, lols.
Then Jim and I went home and I just read a book called 'Holes' by Louis Sachar for my English ERP.(this time its Extensive Reading Programme, lols) And fell asleep reading it. Its a great book. I fell aseep becos I was too tired. Finished reading the book at night, before the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Very good book, haha, some things have to be deduced...
Then I watched the opening ceremony...and I could only say wow. I just loved the show they put up, showing the 5000 years of Chinese history. It was on such a large scale...and the performances were just...so magnificent. Haha, I must say this has made me feel kinda proud to be a descendant...haha. Then came the athletes walking into the stadium, of all 204 countries...lols. Wanted to see Singapore so I waited...and waited...and waited. Feel quite cheated when the Singapore team finally entered. They were within the last 20 teams. 1 plus hours, waiting for them! They must feel proud. haha. I pity the women clapping their hands and dancing around the circle in the centre cos they had to smile and do that for so long...close to the end, they were all like so tired haha, I bet if I was there my face would have been spasming...lols. Though they suddenly got a burst of energy again when the last team, from China, entered. Cant blame them, it works the same way in us. i waited more than an hour for the Singapore team. Oh yes, and I feel sorry for those who entered early too, cos they had to stand there for so long...while I could lie on the sofa watching them, lols. But, i dont think its too tough for them la, they are athletes... The most rewarding thing watching them enter the stadium, is really seeing their BIG smiles. You feel their happiness, and feel happy for them. =D
I must also talk about the last part, about the last leg of the olympic torch relay. Someone 'flew up' carrying the torch and lighted the gi-normous torch, by lighting a small part of the 'scroll' and then the fire travelled up, turning one round on the scroll before reaching the top part of the scrool torch and exploded into a huge flame. And then I understood why the person didnt light the flame directly, haha.
I loved how they spammed fireworks too. And the funny thing is that our family was all making fun of the fireworks and a newspaper article yesterday in one of the Chinese papers I think, talking about one of the president scholars this year saying that every firework used in the NPD is depriving some ppl of a chance to go to university. Lols, we were like counting how many ppl in China would be deprived of a place in uni.
Oh yes, and one more thing im thinking of. After watching the super-
zai olympics opening ceremony, would the NDP today seem...ahem...not as good?
Still, I wont forget to wish Singapore a HAPPY BIRTHDAY or to all Singaporeans, a HAPPY NATIONAL DAY! =D
