Haha, this morning was spent at school meeting the old 01 scouts from past batches. They are all really nice like I expected them to be, and all about 40+ haha. We broke the ice by playing ice breakers first, and so we played games like pass the parcel, find the lie and frozen shirt! Lols. really fun, and learn a lot about the 01 in the past as well. It was rather different, but there are also similar points...
Well, the part which I learn most about them was probably the sharing session with them, where each of them will go to the front and just tell us about their experiences. What rugby captain, softball captain, colonel, general, psychiatrist, record-breaker, all kinds of things they did. The stories they shared, were so inspiring. I cant imagine...a group of young scouts thinking of, training for and eventually breaking a record set by an army! Im so sorry, but I really cant right now. But I guess thats what 01 would teach me, haha. I've always thought myself to be a dreamer, but now it looks like Im still not dreaming big enough and creating reality from them.
Another point they spoke about is the friendships and strong bonds that are built in 01. Haha, well I couldnt agree more, it has been such a great platform to form and strengthen our friendships with each other. From strangers about 5 months ago, to close friends now, it really works wonders. I have always been thinking, what is it about 01 that makes it so special, but I cant seem to find an answer each time, I still cant answer it today, but at least I've gotten some ideas of what they are today...the experiences? the spirit? the scouting history?
I realised an interesting thing in today's sharing, about most of us, that our most memorable mooments are usually our first. During the small group sharing session, I talked about my experience when I was 'invited' to watch the 01 annual show this year, and how I was really amazed at the scouting spirit that everyone was showing, and how it really changed my perspective on scouts. All the fun and enthusiasm shown was simply such an eye-opener, like I was reliving my memories when I was just a cub scout in primary school... Oh yes, back to examples, first GTC, first AC...yea... The first time is always special.
This afternoon and night was spent playing bridge and daidi haha. Was playing after the act, and continued to play when I went to my grandmother's house...my cousin gave me a tip on how to play better...=P haha. But dont think it will work everytime though.
I will continue to reflect on today later, before I need to reflect on the EOY results next week, haha. And thank you so much to those old boys who were with us today! Learn a whole lot and got a new scouts song under my favourites list! Its Home on the Ranch! So nice.
Yaska! Yaska! Yaska! haha
